Vala’s James Faulkner joins Hardmans for a look at the Vala Better Ventures EIS

James explains why Vala’s commitment to supporting businesses become ‘better’ is a commercial imperative

Vala’s MD, James Faulkner, was recently invited to appear on a recent edition of Hardman & Co’s Tax Advantaged Forum, in association with investment platform GrowthInvest.  James had the opportunity to share Vala’s approach to sustainability and why Vala believes companies’ commitment to becoming more sustainable (“better”) is not just the right thing to do but is also a commercial imperative.

Vala’s Better Ventures EIS has recently adopted the label of “Sustainability Improvers” from the FCA’s new SDR anti-greenwashing regime and James explained that it was a relatively straightforward process because much of what the SDR guidance demands is what Vala has already been doing. In particular it’s approach to identifying companies and monitoring and measuring their performance not just against financial metrics but each company’s meaningful commitment to becoming more sustainable.
